This year Lake Wood Center for the Arts celebrates its 47th annual Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts. The weekend long festival will take place June 22nd thru the 24th. The Lake Wood Theater Company opened its doors in November of 1952, when a few Lake Oswego residents believed that the city was in great need for a theater. Today the Lake Wood Center and Lake Wood Theater Company is a place to not only absorb and cherish the arts, but also a place to learn and thrive.
Lake Oswego Festival Of The Arts 2012
The Lake Oswego Festival of Arts will bring over 25,000 people. Each year the festival focuses on a different art form to show case and this year’s art form is Contemporary Encaustic. Encaustic comes from the Greek word that means “to heat”. Artists will work with warm beeswax, resins and pigments to create beautiful works of art. Over 1,000 pieces of art will be on display by artists from all over the world. This is a juried event, so only the best pieces actually make it to the festival.
